Working in the USA

The first step to move to the USA to work as a nurse is to get your License . Many states require that you also pass the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools examination to work in their state. You may contact them for further information at:

Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools
3600 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104-2651 USA
Phone: (215) 349- 6721
Web site: http://www.cgfns.org/

If you would like to know the specific requirements for working in different states, you can contact the individual State Boards of nursing or the National Organization, which oversees all the state boards at:

The National Council of State Boards of Nursing
625 N. Michigan Avenue, Suite 1544
Chicago, IL 60611 USA

We shall be more than happy to provide you with the specific information on NCLEX requirements if you have a particular state you are interested in.

Once you sit for your NCLEX examinations and pass, you are licensed to work as an RN. Based on this license we will be able to arrange an interview for you with a prospect employer at the hospital of your choice. Most likely this interview will be over the phone. Sometimes a hospital recruitment team will visit your country and conduct a personal interview.
